It’s Never Too Late to Quit Smoking Marijuana
Welcome to my blog about quitting marijuana
I’m no doctor but as a former pothead who smoked for 10 years (daily!) I know about how difficult it is to stop. You have all the reasons in the world to stop smoking weed but you still need a lot more help than you would like to admit. How did I get over my weed addiction? Here’s my story…
I started doing pot when I was in my 20’s. Call it ironic but I fell into it because I wanted to prove it wasn’t that GOOD.
My college boyfriend was one of those people addicted to marijuana – the “wake and bake” types. One day he told me to try it with him. He wanted to show me why he liked it so much. It was so stupid of me to agree.
For the rest of the week, I didn’t touch weed again. Then, I don’t know how it happened but after a month I started doing it everyday. I wanted to prove to this guy that I loved him and wanted to share this thing he loved with him. My parents then noticed how my allowance always ran out or that I would ask for money more often than usual. I started borrowing money from my friends to keep up with my habit. I became a heavy user when my boyfriend and I broke up – I started doing it alone or with friends.
After about 10 years of this, I finally decided to quit smoking marijuana. Why? It was making me feel guilty about hiding it from my family (I have two kids and a full time job). It’s horrible to hear anyone noticing how red my eyes looked or that I seemed like a different person at times. It was a hard decision to make but I had to do it. I quit several times and relapsed as much. Rehab centers, detox programs, you name it, I’ve done it. BUT I pushed through and made “cleaning up” my new addiction. I knew I couldn’t do it by myself.
One day I stumbled on some unexpected help by way of a quit smoking marijuana program that is all about getting to know myself again. I had to resolve issues that got me into pot in the first place – why I relapsed and how to get over them. It gave me my life back so I wouldn’t need a crutch anymore.
After I worked on my personal stuff I was ready to heal my body. This time, I barreled through my detox program with all the enthusiasm I now had. A natural marijuana detox was the second help I needed to complete my recovery. It even helped me cope with difficult post detox symptoms after.
Now I’m proud to say I’ve been clean for 2 years! It’s never too late to quit smoking marijuana. I started this blog because I wanted to help other people have hope – what happened to me can happen to you too!
